"Oh my God! What the hell is that?" Tina exclaimed looking at the computer screen over her hubby Dave's shoulder. "They look like two walking comic books."
What Tina was describing was a picture that Dave opened in their email of a couple who wanted to meet them. The ad that they put up on the swinger site just yesterday was already answered. They received a reply from a "rough" looking couple. The "biker look" wasn't what Tina was gasping about. The fact that they both had tattoos out the wazoo is what concerned her the most.
"So what do you want to do with this?" asked Dave. Tina looked at Dave and said, "Are you kidding? "I just can't deal with that massive tattooed look, it's such a turn off." "Send them the standard "not interested" message." This is a typical reaction from a lot of swinging couples.
Body art has been around since the dawn of time. Tattoos and piercing has gained momentum due to its popularity among rock stars and now among people of the middle class. Once restricted to just "bad boys" and sailors; finding a tattoo on someone is as common as ever in today's society.
Bikers and prison convicts tend to sport multiple tats (as there are called by some), due to the culture behind them and what they represent. Some do it for the image, when others just love the art, and it's just a way of them expressing themselves.
Many swingers do not openly accept excessive tattoos and piercing. In many cultures having tattoos are considered prison art rather than accepted body decoration. Tattoos are considered offensive and disgusting; they are especially distracting when they appear on intimate body parts. Most women and many men find them to be a turn off.
Lots of swingers have tattoos. As a swinger and a bi-sexual female, to me a small tattoo on the body of a woman is very sexy and erotic. And if it's in a hidden place; like on her ass or some other private part that adds to the eroticism even more. I think to myself, that someone had to see her ass to put that there; someone had to touch that tit to make that design. In my mind, I'm thinking this woman has no inhibitions to let a total stranger draw on her body. Therefore she must be exciting in bed. A few tattoos in the right places make her look naughty in a way. Naughty is very sexy in my book.
Now a few tattoos here and there are a turn on for some of us. Men who are in great shape look good with a tribal tat on the arm or something small anywhere else on their body. The fact is, if someone didn't have a tattoo or piercing; it wouldn't really make a difference. Or would it?
We have a male friend who is a body builder that we swing with from time to time. He has a small tattoo on his chest, a tongue ring, a Prince Albert piercing on his cock and both ears are pierced. His tattoos and piercing are acceptable to me because it doesn't really draw attention until he removes his clothes.
For the couple described above, I would have probably turned down also. However, that's just me. I don't think I would want my hubby and I mixing body fluids with people who looked like they just got out of Pelican Bay Prison.
Generally speaking, swinging is a unique lifestyle and not everyone is going to be attracted to you for one reason or another. Regardless, the bottom line is that attraction and sex are synonymous. If you are loaded with tattoos and have excessive piercing and you are finding that you are not connecting with other swingers that might very well be the reason. So if you are considering getting a tattoo or a body piecing, take into consideration how others will perceive it before you go under the needle.
